Castile Roofing Offers Quality Shingle Roofing

While not as common as Tile Roofing or Tile Roofing Repair, shingle roofs are present in the Valley of the Sun in some homes dotted throughout the landscape. More commonly found in the homes in the Northern part of the States, this form of roofing has it’s benefits and setbacks. This is not unknown to Castile Roofing, which while known for our quality tile roofing; we also offer quality Shingle Roofing services, such as installation, maintenance, and repairs.

What are Shingle Roofs?

Shingle Roofs are based on the use of small tiles known as shingles. These tiles are made of wood, metal, and asphalt. Asphalt shingles are the most used material for shingle roofs. This makes it fairly cheap for roofing installations when traditional tile can become costly. But that also can be a concern in terms of maintenance and repair if not kept up properly.

What Can Castile Roofing Do To Help?

The answer is simple: continue to provide Roofing Done Right! This includes shingle roof installations, shingle roofing repairs and maintenance for homes that need them. This has been the core reason why customers continue to do business with Castile Roofing. They want roofing done RIGHT; we’re here to ensure that.

Is There Any Particular Shingle You Specialize In?

Castile handles many types of roof work; but we are more familiar with asphalt shingles. This is due to how most homes are designed around them. Tiles are the main material of roofing, followed by shingles. This does not mean we are limited to this material, just that our exposure to it is more common than other shingle material.

How Do You Get Into Contact with Castile Roofing?

Roofing Tips

We at Castile Roofing always mention to contact us to handle all of the roofing services. But for this instance, we want to also offer roofing tips. Yes, Castile Roofing is offering Roofing Tips for customers as they work to keep their home’s roof throughout the year.

Check for Damaged Areas

This goes without saying, but making sure there are no damaged areas in the roof is important for a lot of reasons. First, tile that is broken causes leaks to seep into the home. Broken shingles or rusted metal roofs have the same effect. This gets worse the longer it’s left alone. Also, depending on location, damaged sections can be hazardous as pieces of roofing material may fall onto a person. This will not only look bad on the homeowner, but will also give rise to potential lawsuits for negligence; and that is BEFORE the injured could slap fees for hospitalization and medical expenses, unless they are close friends/family. To prevent this, contact us for roofing repair; this is for both commercial or residential buildings.

Keep Debris and ‘Freeloaders’ Clear

While not always considered, but having a tree or critters that remain on the roof can also cause roofing issues to occur. First and foremost, as branches break from the tree, they clog the drainage channels of some roofs. Then there is the damage and burden of clearing the debris off the roof. Leave that to us! We can offer to clean your roof while doing any major repairs at no cost. Another problem is that of ‘freeloaders’ that occupy a roof. Most of the time they are squirrels or the occasional tree dwelling insects. Finally, there could be doves/birds resting on top of the roof as well. Unless that was what the homeowner intended, you’ll need to make sure they are remove from the roof to prevent damage. We also have cleaning services as well to make less stress for customers to deal with. Finally, we like to offer a third tip for our roofing tips posting.

Routine Certifications and Inspections

Now throughout the year, it’s important to have certified inspections to make sure you have a well-kept roof. Certifications and Inspections are our specialty if you need professional quality assurance.

Concluding the Roof Tips from Castile Roofing

While we conclude our roofing tips for now, Castile Roofing is willing to assist customers with all their roofing needs. If you own/lease a building, have roofing concerns, and need a solution fast (regardless of the location in the Valley of the Sun) then Castile Roofing is waiting for your call. Contact us today!

Buckskin Roofing Maintenance made by Castile Roofing

Castile Roofing is continuing to be at the forefront of helping our customers with their roofing need. One such example took place in the neighborhood of Buckskin. We like to showcase this with some photos of the job we completed a few weeks ago.

Here we see the installation of new roofing tile to replace the damaged tile that was there beforehand. As you notice, the coloration is lighter than the surrounding tile. While we make every effort to go EXACTLY as colored, there are times we have to let nature do the proper tanning for us. The primary goal is to get your home’s roof back to proper functioning capability.

Here is another example to our commitment to our customers with these photos:

Sometimes, we may be asked to provide additional work; the kind that is outside the scope of the original invoice. In this instance, it was to install bird-deterrent spikes. Under normal circumstances, we would have to reschedule for a second attempt, charge for items, complete the work, etc. This is also handled on a case-by-case basis; not all cases are like this. Even so, we took the time to install these bird-deterrent spikes provided by the customer for an additional charge. Yes, we must be paid for services rendered. We cannot change that aspect of our business.

The Final Touches and The Final Message

These last set of picture overlook the runoff corner to ensure that are properly overlooking the roof and angled correctly. This is critical to prevent water deposits and to help with getting water off the roof quickly. This will give the roof additional years of life, and hopefully remove further calls to repairs.

Roofing Done Right in Peoria – A Day in the Life of a Castile Roofer

Work in Peoria – How it Began

At Castile Roofing, we know a roofer’s work is truly never done. Merely completed until the next challenge comes their way. Such was the case for one of our roofers when he received the call for a truss coming apart as well as leaking in a home in Peoria. This home was also a proud owner of solar panels; hoping to save even more money on energy costs while taking full advantage of the largest power source. That said, it does put a burden on the roof itself, as seen on the truss here:

Peoria Maintenance and Repair - Castile Roofing - Roofing Done Right Peoria Maintenance and Repair - Castile Roofing - Roofing Done Right - The Start of the Repair Process

Fortunately, we were able to get the repairs necessary for this customer.

The Work That Was Done

First and foremost, we start with the first and major concern, the truss (the silver metal thing holding the support beams onto the roof itself). Our roofer went ahead and replaced the truss itself, as shown here:

Peoria - Roofing Repair Done Right - Left Side Peoria - Roofing Repair Done Right - Right Side

With the truss replaced, the beam is better reinforced. This will help in dealing with the weight of the solar panels on top of the roof. This is important as the LAST thing our customer wants to deal with is a solar panel breaking through the ceiling creating an improptu “sun roof.”

Going Topside at our Customer’s Peoria Home

Speaking of, that’s where we go to next. Here the focus was handling the potential areas that would leak during the summertime. The following showcases areas of repair handled by our sturdy roofer:

Peoria - Roofing Maintenance and Repair Done Right Peoria - Castile Roofing Done Right with Proper Maintenance and Repair Peoria - Roofing Maintanence and Repair Done Right Peoria - Roofing Repair and Maintenance Done Right - Castile Roofing

The main focus here was ensuring that there are no leaks coming from the air-conditioner (so your AC bill isn’t through the roof; get it?) as well as from the vent exhausts. To do this, they used a special adhesive to ensure the areas remain airtight. This will further save the customer vast amounts on their heating and cooling bills, on top of the savings they will have from using Solar Energy!

Another Satisfied Customer and Roofer

Now we’ve reached the end, and the job is complete. Addressing the supports first prior to the roof work topside shows our care to the customer’s safety. Then, we got to work to further protect their investment in the home by cutting down potential leak areas. This is the professional quality you can rely and expect from us at Castile Roofing; Roofing Done Right in Peoria!

Key To Roof Longevity – Proper Maintenance

By | Roofing Maintenance | No Comments

Out every part of a building, roofs experience the most wear and tear from the weather. The sun blazes down on Phoenix, AZ roofs 299 days a year (on average) and during summer months, roofs can reach temperatures of over 120 degrees. The months of July, August and September bring heavy monsoons which can cause massive leaks and damage. In the Phoenix winter, low temperatures and heavy moisture may prone roofing materials to freeze and fractures. Your roof’s longevity is reliant upon proper care. We recommend biannual inspections.

If you want to maintain your building’s value and keep it looking sharp, maintenance of your roof is imperative. Unfortunately, because roofs are often out of sight, they can slip out of mind.

Below we outline roof maintenance best practices for a multitude of roofing types.

Maintaining Shingle Roofs

Check for Vegetation Growth

Moss and algae can corrode to your roof’s shingles significantly. If you find moss or algae growth on your roof, remove the outbreak and use a zinc or iron solutions to prevent further growth.

Clean Debris

Debris tend to collect on roofs over time. Inspect your roof for garbage, leaves, and other debris several times a year. Look under A/C units, near your chimney, and other areas such as protruding pipes. Removing debris will ensure that water won’t contribute to your roof’s decay as much.

Check Roof Flashings

Roof flashings are one of the most common ways that water enters a house so is important to check the flashings for signs of damage. Roof Flashings are strips of galvanized steel that are placed over the joints in your roof to prevent leaking. Check for cracks or algae and repair as needed.

Check Shingles

Carefully inspect your shingles for loose tabs. To prevent damage to your building, loose shingles must be repaired right away. Repairing a loose shingle is as easy as applying a little cempent to the bottom of the shingle which will secure it in place.

Check for Overgrown Tree Limbs & Branches

During storms with heavy winds, overgrown branches may bang scrape against the roof which can cause serious damage. Trim surrounding trees to avoid this issue as well as others, like roof rats.

Check the Gutters

Make sure that your gutters are clean so that water can freely flow away from your roof. Water accumulation can significantly decrease the life expectancy of your shingles.

Maintaining Foam Roofs

Foam roofs are topped with an elastomeric material that protect it from ultraviolet sunrays and can help the roof last for more than two and a half decades. The protective roof coat wears out overtime so it is important to recoat the foam roof every five years.

In between coatings there are several precautions you can take so to ensure the longevity of your roof.

Keep The Roof Free From Debris

Because roofs are out of sight, it is important take an inspection of your building’s roof for bird’s nests, tree branches,  leaves, and debris at least once a year. If debris is left uncleaned on a foam roof, it can decompose the foam. The best time of year to inspect a roof is after monsoon season as the summer storms ususally leave debris on roofs.

Get Yearly Inspections

A roofer will typically inspect your roof for free and can tell when it’s time to recoat your roof or if any holes need repaired. With foam roofs it’s important to have consistent inspections as the longevity of the roof is directly correlated to the health of the top reflective coating.

Look for Strange Foam Discolorations

When you are removing debris from your roof look around and notice the texture of the roof. The texture of the roof should look a bit like an orange peel. If the texture resembles scrambled eggs or popcorn, the foam has been compromised. If foam is exposed or deteriorating, your likely well past due for a roof re-coating.

Have a Roofer Inspect for Ponding

Ask your roofer to look for water ponding on your roof. If found, your roofing professional can engineer a system to prevent further water pooling.

Maintaining Metal Roofs

Clean the Roof

Neglected metal roofs often accumulate debris and can begin to mold or have algae outbreaks. Debris can increase water accumulation and result in further damage to the metal from rust and other forms of deterioration. Algae can often weaken the metal surface and contribute to earlier replacement needs.

Inspect the Roof

Metal roofs often consist of hundreds of seams, seals, screws, fasteners, and panels. Biannual inspections are necessary to ensure that these components are secure and will not leak and cause damage to the interior of your home.

Repair as Needed

Should you or your roofing inspector find any loose components they must be replaced immediately. Further inspections are warranted even if a single component is found to be loose.

Tread Carefully

We recommend that homeowners hire certified roofing professionals to clean and inspect their roofs. When wet metal roofs are incredibly slippery and improper foot traffic can cause significant damage to the roof. Additionally, your roof could suffer from damages due to improper foot traffic.

Maintaining Title Roofs

Check for Debris

Debris can decrease water flow and contribute to algae growth that will change the color of your bricks. Hence forth it is very important to keep your roof clean. Identify debris with a visual inspection around your house and then locate a secure and sturdy later to climb on to your roof. Use a broom to remove leaves, twigs, and other trash. A pressure washer is a great way to remove algae, bird feces, or dirt from your roof.

Clear Away Nearby Tree Foliage

In heavy Phoenix Monsoon storms tree branches can sway fiercely in the wind and cause significant damage to your roof. Ensure that all nearby tree branches are trimmed or risk significant roof  repair and possible remodeling costs.

Tile Repair

You should almost always hire a Phoenix Roofing Professional to repair loose tiles. Improperly secured tiles and underlayment can cause major damage to your roof and home.

Remember proper roof care not only ensures the increased longevity of your Phoenix roof, but can also lead to lower utility bills and less remodeling costs.

Castile Roofing offers free Arizona roofing consultations. To increase the longevity of your roof fill in the form to the right.
